What HPLC proves

HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) separates a sample into its component parts and quantifies them. Run on a research peptide, it proves one specific thing: the proportion of the sample, by UV-absorbing peak area, that is the intended compound versus everything else that absorbs at the detection wavelength.
